Coan Middle School will celebrate four distinguished editors as part of National Mentoring Month with a tree-planting ceremony at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at the school (1550 Hosea Williams Drive). All four will be recognized for their work in mentorship for several years. According to a press release from the Dukes Foundation, one of the partners in this event, “Their contributions have elevated the academic and socio-economic standards in numerous communities.”

The Dukes Foundation has partnered with APS, Trees Atlanta, the Horus Corporation, Our Helping Hands, Inc., and the Southeastern Horticultural Society (SEHS). SEHS recently established a community learning garden behind the school.

The four educators are: Rosa Baxter-Ferrell, Mildred Ball, Linda Kaloskain and Niyokia Hall.
