Carver’s School of Health Sciences & Research tackles teen domestic violence

Carver’s School of Health Sciences and Research (HSR) is on the path to producing future scientists, nurses and doctors. The school also engages students in various character-building programs, such as Pennies for Patients, Youth Truth forums and Teen Pregnancy Awareness.

During Pregnancy Awareness Week, Carver’s Public Service Announcement Committee (PSA) reenacted life as a teenage mother. The experiment caused many students to change their behavior. On Thursday, February 4, HSR will kicked off Teen Domestic Violence Awareness activities with partners, The Rock of Escape and The Jane Fonda Center at Emory University.

A panel of domestic violence survivors also will speak to students after a skit from the PSA committee.

Here are a few other upcoming events from HSR:
•    “HSR Expo”: On March 1, students from Price and Parks Middle schools will shadow HSR students and meet local medical professionals.
•    Slavery Exhibit: HSR house a three-day exhibit on slavery beginning March 3.
