Atlanta Public Schools’ District Wellness Council partnered with Family 2 Family, Aetna and The Center Helping Obesity In Children End Successfully (C.H.O.I.C.E.S.) Inc., to host the Children’s Wellness Expo/Student Wellness Ambassador (SWA) Leadership Academy on March 27 at the Adamsville Recreation Center. Mayor Kasim Reed and City Councilman C.T. Martin, District 10, were both speakers at this event. Activities included fun fitness, mini workshops, health screenings, cooking demos with local chefs.

The Children’s Wellness Expo was a wonderful volunteer opportunity, as well as a resource for student leadership. Student Wellness Ambassadors (SWA) who attended this event focused on leadership skills and developing student-led activities that will affect change in their schools and communities. In addition, each SWA received a certificate for serving as host and hostesses. There were 110 SWAs from 15 school sites serving as host and hostesses at the Expo.
