Fourteen APS traditional and charter schools earn Governor’s Office of Student Achievement annual academic performance awards

Fourteen APS traditional and charter schools earned the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement Single Statewide Accountability System 2011 awards for their academic performance. The awards are based on the results of the most recent two years of Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) results in reading, English/language arts, math, social studies, science and the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT).
The awards are presented in two broad categories – Highest Performance for Students Meeting and Exceeding Standards and Greatest Gains for Students Meeting and Exceeding Standards. In each category, individual schools are awarded platinum, gold, silver or bronze recognitions, based on their individual student performance. The following APS traditional and charter schools were recognized in these respective categories:
Highest Performance
Springdale Park Elementary School – Platinum, Morningside Elementary School – Gold, Lin Elementary School – Silver, Smith Elementary School – Silver, Brandon Elementary School – Silver, Jackson Elementary School – Bronze, Early College High School at Carver – Platinum and Inman Middle School – Bronze.
Greatest Gains
Charles R. Drew Charter School – Platinum, Toomer Elementary School – Gold, Kipp Strive Academy – Gold, Parkside Elementary School – Gold, Tech High School – Gold and Sutton Middle School – Platinum.
“I congratulate the students, principals, teachers and staff for the hard work and dedication that went into earning this recognition,” said Superintendent Erroll B. Davis, Jr. “Sustained academic performance over time is the best measure of real achievement, and these awards are indicative of the kind of performance APS is experiencing throughout the system.”

Apparently, the NEW APS does not see the need to scrutinize the scores at APS Northside schools during the two years of cheating investigations. A Platinum school drops to Bronze status during the cheating scandal??? and the New APS does not look at the loss of progress at the higher achieving schools???…These Northside APS institutions had much more at stake and were Wall street savvy with their skilled manipulations. I believe a true investigation of these schools would expose a tremendous loss of individual scores once the teachers and administrators were given notice of the cheating investigations. Those teachers at high achieving schools and the difference in loss or gains of their students needs to be carefully analyzed.
