The National Alternative Education Association (NAEA) Conference attendees visited Crim Open Campus High School on Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Crim is an exemplary model of an alternative school for the state of Georgia and for the nation. Dr. Silvia Hooker, Deputy Superintendent for School Turnaround for the State of Georgia, and approximately 50 guests from around the states received an overview of Crim as an inspiration of positive education for other schools.
Principal Saundra Windom shared a presentation of Crim’s school structure, student profile, school history, demographics and more. Crim is designed for students who are in need of a non-traditional school setting, and offers flexible hours, credit recovery, social and emotional support, mentoring program, and more.
“Our relationship and connection have made a difference of attendance and achievement from our students,” Principal Saundra Windom says. “We encourage students to build hopes and dreams, so that they will not leave Crim hopeless, but with dreams for success.”
Crim will also present at the NAEA Conference regarding effective school attendance teams and Powerhouse CTE Pathways transforming alternative education.
