Four Interim Principals Recommended for Therrell, Jackson and B.E.S.T. Academy High Schools

Interim Principals have been recommended for the Therrell School of Health Science and Research, Therrell School of Law, Government and Public Policy, Jackson High School and B.E.S.T. Academy High School campuses for the 2012-2013 school year.

Therrell School of Health Science and Research	Shelly Powell, Interim Served as Model Teacher Leader in the Office of High Schools for 2 years Served as the Small Schools/Small Learning Communities Implementation Specialist with the Office of High Schools for 4 years Taught in APS and Florida for a total of 7 years

Mark Mygrant to return as interim principal of North Atlanta High School, as search continues for new school leader

Long-time North Atlanta High School Principal Mark Mygrant will return to lead the school on an interim basis, as the search continues for a new leader.

Mygrant will formally retire this month, but will return a month after his retirement to lead preparations for the start of classes for the new school year on August 6, as well as continue plans for the relocation of the school’s students, faculty and staff to their new location, scheduled for the start of the 2013-14 school year.  Tentative plans are for Mygrant to return as principal for three months, after which a new principal is expected to be hired.

The search for a new leader for North Atlanta High School will continue to include participation by parents and members of the local community.  APS officials are hopeful the process will be concluded by late summer.
