Grady, Carver, Mays and Washington Hit the Field as APS Hosts High School Football Classic August 22

Atlanta Public Schools (APS) Department of Athletics will host the 2015 High School Classic Saturday, Aug. 22 at Lakewood Stadium, 70 Claire Dr. S.W., Atlanta, GA 30315.

The following high school football teams are scheduled to compete:

11:00 a.m. – Tri Cities vs. Hardaway-Columbus

2:00 p.m. – Grady vs. Washington

5:00 p.m. – Carver-Atlanta vs. Carver-Columbus

8:00 p.m. – Mays vs. Langston Hughes

Mays High School is back this weekend after a historic 2014 season, advancing to the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Class AAAAA state championship game for the first time in the school’s history.

Grady High School boasts the district’s only female player, Jayla Shropshire offensive and defensive line player.

Carver High School will play their fellow namesake Carver of Columbus, GA, for only the second time since 1963.

Washington High School hits the field after receiving inspirational words from UGA’s Vince Dooley earlier this week.
