Parents, Students and Staff,
As we continue to work through the events of Friday night, we have gathered a list of internal and external supports for our students, staff, and families who may need additional support immediately, over this weekend and through the coming days.
We have been able to expand our services and offer the following to anyone affected:
· For APS families, Pathways – one of the district’s providers of comprehensive mental health support – has behavioral or mental health professionals available by phones beginning today. They can provide guidance and support to any APS family in need of services. Please call any of the following numbers between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.:
· (404) 403-2303
· (404) 450-6526
· (404) 579-7386
· (404) 450-6538
· (404) 450-2077
· (404) 378-2300
After 8 p.m. please contact (404) 378-2300 only.
· Our Employee Assistance Program is available for any staff member needing assistance. Employees needing immediate help may contact the assistance provider, FEI, at 1 (800) 638-3327. A counselor will take the call, assess what additional support is needed, and provide details regarding next steps.
On Tuesday, employees should contact the APS Employment Engagement Coordinator, Sonya Hunte, at (404) 802-2370.
Also on Tuesday, Crisis Teams of counselors, school psychologists, and social workers will provide support to students and staff at Grady, Carver and Crim. Our staff will be ready to offer additional support to all schools in the Grady and Carver clusters.
In addition, our social and emotional learning (SEL) teams will provide principals with resources and activities/strategies teachers can use in their classrooms this week. Our SEL partner has been notified of Friday’s event and is providing additional support to our internal SEL team as well.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to your school support staff or to our support staff in APS Student Services with questions. We are here to help and support.
